Botanical identification of Egyptian Blue Lotus versus expansion into Blue Lotus consciousness.
Last April I went to Egypt in search for the ancient and sacred Blue Lotus flower (Blue Water Lily) in its native land. Part of it has been a wonderful and enriching solo journey that guided me to profound discoveries and understanding. It actually took me into a rabbit hole where, paradoxically, the more I knew, the more I felt myself falling deeper and deeper into the dark muddy waters where the Blue Lotus anchors its roots. We have to “reach the depths” in order to rise again and be reborn with new understandings and a renewed expanded consciousness. This, after all is an ancient teaching from the Blue Lotus!
My research was focused on the botanical identification of the authentic Egyptian Blue Water Lily. Little did I know that the situation in this regards is delicate and complicated in Egypt, where the need for an ecological restoration of a flower almost extinct in its native land, finds the resistance of chary custodians. The teachings I received exceeded my expectations, going beyond the primary importance of its botanical species, from a limited egoic human consciousness into divine consciousness of cosmic order, natural law and love. Where Being is Becoming, and what we are Becoming is going to be our legacy for the future generations to come.

In my travels I stayed in a stunning, no short of miraculous, oasis in the desert with a beautiful Blue Lotus pond surrounded by limestone picturesque studios of the ecovillage of New Hermopolis. Needless to say that I fell in love with it and it is my greatest pleasure to take you there with me in April for a retreat! What a treat!!! Founded by an extraordinary woman, Dr Mervat Nasser, it offers an example of green farming, architectural eco-living, responsible hospitality, and heritage inspired cultural evolution.
